A pretty family entertainment, lit by Ullman's energy and just small flashes of the Burnett we love.
  1. Somewhere within this bloated six-hour miniseries there's a lean, mean four-hour miniseries trying to escape.
  2. Smart, thrilling and politically timely, "Sleeper Cell" works overtime to mix believable character drama with jolts of surprising plot twists.

Because the movie tries to cover too much ground, it will be incoherent for those who don't already know the story, and disappointing for those who do. Worse, it is off-key in its presentation of both minor and major passages of his life.

Even if this strikes a cynical adult as too syrupy-sweet, it's refreshing to have a too-nice role model.
  3. Occasionally funny.
  4. It's uplifting, but not hugely entertaining. After a while, I sort of think the show will feel tired; once you've seen one good deed done, you've seen them all.
  5. Just as awful as "Locusts" was.
  6. It's more an intellectual, in your head, "hey, that's clever," than a laugh-out-loud funny.
  7. It appears Freddie Prinze Jr. studied at the Matt LeBlanc School of Acting given his mumbling performance and nice-guy-cum-neanderthal portrayal of Freddie Moreno.
  8. A disappointingly sex-obsessed sitcom.
  9. "Related" won't be for everyone, especially viewers lacking estrogen, but it is a quality weekly "chick flick" for TV.
  10. Better than average.
  11. If a show could get by on atmosphere alone, ABC's stylishy shot "Night Stalker" would be an outright success. It is creepy, spooky and scary.... But all this isn't enough to overcome what will likely prove to be an insurmountable problem: casting.
  12. The best new fall drama.
  13. "Sex" proves to be a series with loads of appeal for viewers still mourning the cancellation of "Melrose Place."
  14. Viewers who like to snicker at cheesy TV movies will get a kick out of Shepherd's imperious and demanding take on Stewart.
  15. It's all a bunch of mush, but I suspect it's mush that will find a receptive audience.
  16. To be fair, "Three Wishes" is touching. It is heartwarming to see nice things done for people in need. But it also feels like the show manipulates viewers.
  17. A sadistic series that, underneath its ghastly veneer, is just a dull, unoriginal crime drama.
  18. An often lighthearted medical show set in a Los Angeles fertility clinic, NBC's "Inconceivable" lacks the grit of "ER," the heart of "Scrubs" and the soapy shenanigans of "Grey's Anatomy," leaving an empty husk of a series.
  19. Should appeal to fans of Rock and to viewers who long for a family comedy reminiscent of "The Cosby Show" (albeit with a sharper edge).
  20. Solidly plotted and filmed.
  21. The laugh track is far too enthusiastic for the lame attempts at comedy on display here.
  22. The same old thing.
  23. Overcooked and preposterous to the point of being laughable.
  24. "Invasion" offers a few scares, but it's more a sense of dread and something subtly awry that gives this drama its creepy vibe.
  25. Though the characters are quite different, "Earl" somehow brings to mind NBC's "Ed," perhaps because both shows feature a cast of oddballs and are ultimately uplifting, heartwarming portraits of people trying to do good by making a fresh start.
  26. At first glance... it comes off as silly sci-fi, a not-so-intriguing series that wades into all-too-similar waters as two other fall shows. The difference in this one is that the water is noticeably more shallow.
  27. Cute but not overly cuddly, there's an authenticity to the relationships in "Mother" that makes it a comedy worth meeting.
