  1. It's a B-movie with A-list aspirations, and it's at its best when it's not trying to be something it isn't.
  2. Beowulf is many things, but boring isn't one of them.
  3. Bitter, brittle, condescending and petty, the titular character of Margot at the Wedding, fabulously played by Nicole Kidman, is a successful short story writer who resents other people's happiness.

    A lackluster holiday-theme comedy featuring production design half a notch above a snow globe and a star who doesn't so much act as revive a well-worn persona.
  5. And unlike other recent dramas such as "Rendition," the film never feels like it's preaching. Instead, it just urges: Whatever you believe, do something.
