A reminder of just how good hanging out with friends and playing multiplayer in the same room can be. It's certainly not all it could – or perhaps should – be, so we can't help but be a little disappointed, but ultimately it's still a blast.

It's not a terrible game at all. It's simply that it's such an ordinary and unremarkable shooter, and we were expecting so much, that we can't help but bitch about all the areas we wish were better.

Despite having a fun premise and plenty of fighting styles to muck around with, the average fighting mechanics, seemingly random customisation options and lacklustre modes let it down. Reality Fighters isn't broken, but it isn't very good.

Even with no expectations going in, we can't imagine many in our ADHD generation holding patience enough to wade through 20-to-30 minute intervals of repetitive room clearing again and again just to find enough Sun tokens to unlock the next decent racing portion. It just isn't enough fun to warrant the effort.
