The end result is a puzzler that rivals any when it comes to pure difficulty, but by the same token, lacks the grace required to carry its audience through the various highs and lows contained within.

Thor: Sons of Asgard isn't engaging, but it isn't a bad game, per se.

MinoMonsters is good as an introductory game, but for anyone that's ever played a Pokemon game before it will feel very lacking.

Rival Gears Racing is a reasonably attractive looking racing game, and its bare components are quite effective. It lacks soul and personalty though. When those are the key parts to luring you in for more, it’s a substantial issue. For a while, you’ll dip in for a brief race or two. Before long though, the gaps become wider. Its only real hope is if you manage to co-ordinate with friends and join up together. That’s a pretty neat feature but one that stands out in a tide of fairly average gameplay.

I was really enjoying Zuko Monsters until all this gauntlet recharge business got in the way and totally killed it for me.

There is simply nothing remarkable about Languinis to focus on. It’s two generic gameplay experiences merged together.

Farm Story 2 isn’t a terrible game. It’s just typical of a social farming title.

Sadly, however, Touchgrind BMX is a game that, though clearly designed for touchscreen controls, is simply too big for iPhone's boots. It's hard to escape the feeling that play is made up of a series of compromises, and for a game with such big ambitions, that's a trick no-one was looking to see pulled off.

I wouldn't say Companions was a bad game – it's just a really frustrating one.

Auto runners have moved on a good long way since the original Robot Unicorn Attack came out, and this threequel fails to add anything meaningful to a template that a lot of people are already getting sick of. It’s a crunchy, clunky stumble rather than a joyous sprint. Where once it was bright and deliciously lurid, now it’s glossy and, whisper it, a bit cynical. There are much better auto runners out there, and there are much better Robot Unicorn games too. Probably best to give this one a miss.

In a way I feel like it would have actually been better if Flash Gordon was a bad game instead of an extremely bland one. Then it could at least have a shot at hitting that “so bad it’s good” sweet spot.

The game is priced smartly, but it ultimately doesn’t feel polished enough to even justify its lower end price tag. We encountered a couple of level breaking bugs in the final stage, and not enough effort has been put into varying the gameplay up – something like Donut County had true escalating stakes for example, with challenges to match. It’s a shame, because despite its admirable environmental message LumbearJack is a tough title to recommend – even for younger players.

If you’re a real enthusiast of tiny bodies of water and other types of liquid, then by all means, you should give this one a try. But if it’s a quality physics-based puzzle experience with an actual sense of purpose and riveting gameplay that you’re after, then Puddle is more likely to make a tiny PLOP! instead of a triumphant splash.

At worst, it’s a broken mess. It runs poorly, it’s missing a ton of features, and it’s the ugliest version of the game. What sort of remaster is uglier than the original? I can only recommend this version if, like me, you want to replay Tales of Symphonia on a handheld and you don’t own a Steam Deck. If this is not you, avoid this – at least until a promised patch fixes the game.

The decisions should be big and difficult, not things you poke and then move on from. There’s strategy here, don’t get me wrong — but there’s just not enough. Head of State deals with some big issues, but it never quite manages to give them the heft that they need to strike home. And on top of all that, it’s not really all that much fun.

Even if you’re up for a challenge it’s likely that you’re going to find it all a bit too much, especially when the frustration inevitably kicks in.There are far better examples of the genre out there, that are kinder to you and ease you into the carnage. Unfortunately MMX Hill Climb just doesn’t manage to get it right.

Little Masters is free, and if you're desperate for a game that simply looks like Pokémon, you can give it a spin without damaging your bank account. But with Outernauts for Facebook out there, you can get much deeper experiences at the ripe cost of zero dollars. Now if only they'd let us put that in our pockets.

Epic Empire is a blast when you're allowed to go out and wreck enemies, but most of your time is spent staring at the screen and waiting for your coins and / or energy to pile back up.

The controls are stiff, the jumps are constantly frustrating, and no real element feels particularly fun. These were important games in their time, but now we can’t see anyone playing them for more than a few minutes. Unless you’re a die hard Monty Mole fan we can’t really recommend this one.

On the subject of feeling dated, Wild Blood's multiplayer mode reminds me of a PC game called Rune. This is a high compliment. Rune's multiplayer was sweet and I have tasted nothing like it for years, and while I wouldn't call Wild Blood a spiritual successor, I will say its multiplayer mode was a very pleasant surprise.

The slow start and the repetition in the levels ultimately just left me feeling "eh." It's one of those titles that left me feeling totally ambivalent about it, with no strong feelings to either tell people to avoid or buy the game.
