Star Fox 64 3D is best seen as a simple but tasty snack in between meals for those of us waiting for proper new adventures from Nintendo. It's not for everyone, but does offer easily digested science fiction entertainment with plenty of action for many.

Halfbrick knows the endless runner/one button platform genre like the back of their hand, and it shows. Jetpack Joyride hits all the right marks, and ends up being more addictive than cotton candy laced with cocaine.

Arkham City is a display of power. Its predecessor was one of the best licensed games ever, but it's as if Rocksteady has found another gear, just as we thought they were already running at top speed. It's an amazing game, and one of the greatest releases this year.

All 4 one is a good co-op game with a few blemishes, but a disappointing Ratchet game for fans hoping for the full package. If you're looking for a co-op platform laugh that encourages competition, greed and a dash of cooperation, this is for you. But if you were hoping for a Ratchet adventure that would be fun on your own, you're better off with the previous games.

Gears of War 3 towers over its otherwise great predecessors with a campaign so finely tuned that you'll have a hard time putting the controller down. There's the same dissonance between the macho-wit of the characters and the bombastic drama that the series has always suffered from, but that is easily forgiven in light of the rock solid online component and the exemplary options for co-operative play. Shooters don't get much better than this, and if you own an Xbox 360, there's no reason not to get this game.

Space Marine is a Hollywood blockbuster as a game: entertaining but lacking in depth. It offers a satisfyingly brutal mix of ranged and melee combat, but you become accustomed to the entertaining shocks of the violence. The genre mix turns into an ordinary shooter as the game goes on, when increasingly difficult enemies turns melee into certain death. The game essentially forces you to play against its own space marine-nature, as it enters and stays inside the confines of a shooting gallery like so many other shooters. In comparison, multiplayer is a liberating experience. It smartly adapts the gameplay elements from singleplayer, and emerges more well-rounded.

Neither Ico or Shadow of the Colossus can claim to be as unique or sensational as they were when they were first released, but can still offer plenty of magic for anyone in the mood for two good adventures – and they serve as an excellent warm-up for the upcoming The Last Guardian.

Resistance 3 isn't perfect, but there's little to fault with the gameplay, and we'll certainly recommend it to any PS3-owning shooter fan. While not particularly original in many aspects, it's still refreshingly different compared to Call of Duty and its ilk. Resistance 3 isn't exceptional, but it still has plenty to offer.

The first few hours can be a little slow, but once Dead Island gets going, it's hard to put down. It's blend of genres ensures that it's not just another zombie game, and the excellent co-op support is the icing on the cake.

If you're not familiar with the series, it might seem odd that Capcom hasn't spent more time updating the graphics or the 4:3 display format, but those in the know will be pleased to see that playability has been the main focus of this update. Anyone who's already dedicated large amounts of time to Street Fighter III can dig out their arcade stick and venture online without worry.

If you're into strategi, roleplaying, action and science fiction, Space Pirates and Zombies offers a delightful mix that, once you've grown aquinted to it, offers an insane amount of playtime and catchy entertainment.

Easily mingles with the best games of the year. It seamlessly carries the legacy of the original, and does so with flair and style. Most importantly it makes you think, which is all to rare nowadays.

If it weren't for technical issues, such as the troubled controls and occassional coughs from the graphical engine, Garshasp could have been a decent copy of games like God of War, which we rarely see on the PC. But the game is filled with beginners mistake, and feels like a developer's first attempt at making a game, which is exactly what it is.

A clever puzzle game with solid mechanics that cements Chillingo's position as one of the iOS heavyweights.

An enjoyable puzzler that does its best to get the most out of a clever and simple idea. Even at the cheap price, though, it still feels like a mobile game that would be a better fit on the device in your pocket than the comparatively huge monitor of your PC.

It's a fine demonstration of Kinect's abilities, but it lacks longevity. It's fun, but compared to the other Summer of Arcade games its decidedly thin. We're not sure it's worth the price tag when the handheld versions are that much cheaper.

The furious chases, combined with the drifty controls and easily digestible B-Movie atmosphere, creates a package that's sure to thrill.

Frustrating at times but mostly enjoyable, and the content to price ratio is hard to argue with.

An astonishingly well made forray into the Metroidvania genre with beautiful, original graphics and wonderful atmosphere.

A playable spy B-movie for the handheld that doesn't quite live up to the standard Gameloft usually presents. Check out 9mm instead.

In no way an easy game, and probably an overwhelming experience for most people, but also the closest thing we'll get to the battles of WWII without a time machine.

Dead Block is decent if somewhat cheap entertainment, but it's hard to recommend given the dozens of other and better zombie games that are out there.

If you can ignore the technical issues that still plague New Vegas after all this time, Old World Blues offers a nice and solid experience, and we won't hesitate in saying its the best expansion for the game so far.

Kill Team is not a bad game, but it's also one that never really shines. Unless you're a die hard WH40K fan, or are in desperate need of some local multiplayer action, you can safely skip this.

Bastion is like the love child of the visual style and calm of Braid and a refined and trimmed version of Torchlight, and one that manages to exceed well beyond our expectations. There are a couple of missteps, and the story could do with a little more bite, but other than that there's no reason not to throw your money at this game and stay indoors a little longer.

A decent platformer that does its best to utilize the license. Worth getting if you're still in need of more Captain America after going to the movies, and have already played the iOS version of Mirror's Edge.

The challenging and constantly varying level design that keeps on indtroducing new elements is an absolute joy, and given the bargain price, we have no choice but to award Ms. Splosion Man with a well deserved top rating.
