  1. Pretenders pretends to be Bertolucci’s The Dreamers in its meshing of a saucy young love triangle with an impassioned ode to cinema of yore. Alas, Mr. Franco’s not quite there yet.
  2. Will surely end up as one of this year’s worst films.
  3. Like a slug that crawls across the screen for eighty minutes before dying of its own nausea.
  4. Just one of those films, a bottomless well of snark fodder that may come and go in theatres but will surely be spun innumerable times on DVD at parties in the years to come.
  5. Just when you think it could not get more ridiculous, Hall, Lanier, and Miss Mariah go that extra mile.

A mess on every narrative and technical level.

City of Dreams is not perfect, but it is extremely well crafted, and as such, I highly recommend it.

Daddy Day Camp is a perfect family film for the blind and deaf.
  6. There's nothing but a convoluted overcast of story with a monsoon of bad dialogue.

It's a movie that manages to grow more idiotic by the scene.

Classic B-movie mayhem meets French New Wave.
  7. Nihilistic and offensive, it leaves you with more than a sour taste – nausea, perhaps, or a need to bathe in Listerine.
  8. The title not only describes its main characters, but the lazy people behind the camera as well.
  9. Elapsed time before I walked out: 29 minutes Total laughs (in that period): 0

Tedious, derivative exercise, stolen from a dozen or so horror/action films.

It’s rare that a movie makes me ill these days, and it’s rare that I can see a movie and hate the people behind it with such abhorrence, but Meet the Spartans rises to the challenge.

Hollywood is definitely at its worst here and not the type of Hollywood which would dare to greenlight this; just Hollywood being portrayed on film.
  10. Some moments are a bit corny, such as subliminal messages coming from a tape played backward. However, I find the spin that writer/director Daniel Farrands puts on one of the most gruesome murders in history, will make all who see The Haunting of Sharon Tate examine the Tate murders, and maybe our own lives differently.
  11. Thanks to a committed cast and an amusing screenplay that works more often than not. Reality Queen! proves to be a charming affair. Mix in the surprising amount of depth mined from the brilliant ending, and despite its issues, this mockumentary proves worth a watch.
  12. This movie wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It's still not that good though.
  13. Perhaps the worst thing about the writer/director/star’s feature is that it basks in the excess it purports to condemn, confident that pounding the viewer into submission is the way to go, in addition to ending on a hypocritical note that defies everything that’s occurred up to that point.
  14. The whole movie feels like an overlong Kickstarter set up for a The Disaster Artist-like treatment. Honestly, that would provide a far more fascinating story than the pureed plot provided here.

What it lacks in plot and character development, is more than made up for with charm, cleverness and extensive bloodletting.
  15. The resulting concoction is a cinematic elixir that disappoints, no matter how much hypnosis one is under.
  16. In the end, A Galaxy Far, Far Away shadows its parent films in that it's just good clean fun for the whole family.
  17. Moves at a smooth and steady pace, so much so that it’s hypnotic. The characters and performances in this film are also very calm, providing a soothing experience.
  18. Everything here is broad and very silly, but the offbeat foreign vibe keeps us intrigued, mostly because the film's sense of humor is so unusual and unexpected.
  19. If you want pure, undiluted, 100% guaranteed entertainment, Soap Girl is the film to enjoy. This film is a wonderful work of fun, with a marvelous ensemble cast who have more energy, sex-appeal and charm than any group to strut and vamp across the camera in recent memory.
  20. While its heart is in the right place and the cast gives powerful performances, Things Behind the Sun doesn't shed any new viewpoint or perspective on the subject matter.
  21. A gorgeous and poetic meditation on fate, honor and life in the Old West.
