  1. For the most part, Edge Of Reason is as saggy and well-worn as Bridget's big knickers.

    Good ideas. Average film.
  2. It’s not hard to tell that this Big Lebowski spin-off involved neither Coen Brother. Fair play to Turturro for going in such a strange direction, and assembling a pretty killer cast, but it’s unlikely to satisfy even the most ardent Quintana enthusiast.
  3. Not quite a flawless victory, but a solid win all the same. Any future follow-ups would do well to give us an actual Mortal Kombat tournament to enjoy.

Interesting father-and-son dynamic, though not particularly memorable in the long-term.
  4. Despite the odd strong moment, this Bloodshot is anaemic.
  5. A sadly lightweight spar through rule-breaking cop conventions that doesn't utilise it's star's bulk to any great effect.
  6. Lithe, bold, often funny and full of characters to cheer for, it never pretends to be anything more than a trigger-happy romp. If that’s what you’re after, The Losers offers plenty of explosive entertainment.
  7. A bold and sometimes garbled take on modern American politics, this nevertheless marks an effective and surprisingly funny comeback for a film that many deemed to be DOA.

To say this is the best of the Ernest series is no great compliment, but there are enough knowing film jibes here, and ample seasonal tomfoolery, to keep a family in their seats.

This is a film full of scenes that would be easy to overplay, but which Schwarzenegger tackles with understated perfection. Truly, this is quite unlike anything else he’s ever done, and brilliantly so.
  8. Ultimately, this potentially intriguing character thriller loses its direction when it turns into a mean-spirited stalk-and-bash actioner.
  9. A few good stunts, some tolerable brooding and one nice, if silly desert chase. But not essential.
  10. Last-act let-down aside, this is a confident and creepy ghoul-in-the-pool horror that makes Bryce McGuire a filmmaker to watch. Wusses, bring armbands.
  11. There is nothing reprehensible about Palmetto; it simply falls short of conviction because you're too aware you've seen it all a hundred times before.
  12. It’s been done before, and better. With pigs.
  13. A fun techno romp, mixing great bang for your buck with insights into the dangers of restricting civil liberties. Now, anyone for Shia killing blondes dressed as his dead mother?
  14. While it’s a woefully incomplete middle chapter, at least it’s never boring.
  15. Nowhere near as good as the first one but all the same ingredients.
  16. A better-than-expected entry in the all-too-often neglected sub sub-genre, with Butler showing impressive restraint.
  17. It's no Paddington 2, but Peter Rabbit 2 works well thanks to a mocking sense of self and a strong second half. Once again, Beatrix Potter, it is not.
  18. If you crave Emmerich-esque disaster-porn with a mega body count, there’s plenty here to OMG at. But when it comes to character depth or plotting, San Andreas is a sadly familiar wasteland.
  19. Has cult status now but the plot is fiendishly complicated.
  20. It’s hard to begrudge such an earnest endeavour, but this is missing the wit, nuance, and insight of a book thought by many – correctly, maybe – to be unadaptable.

A film with a fishing metaphor for a title should have come with sharper hooks.
  21. Taymor's winningly cast, imaginative take on Shakespeare passes the test of bringing the Bard to film. It may also be the only PG Disney film to contain the word "F---".
  22. Competently made, and enjoyably played. But you do really end up wondering what the point was. Cinematic déjà vu is the most likely response.
  23. Sweet, formulaic entertainment, but occasionally clunky.
  24. Slightly weird, occasionally funny thriller.

A very text-book example of two actors better than the material, Crystal and Williams do their best but can't elevate this far.
