Is Zelda Tears of the Kingdom the most important game in the past 10 years? My answer is: Yes, it is. It's a game that we definitely cannot define with a bunch of words, since they wouldn't ever do it justice.

Retro Studios and Nintendo took the task of improving the graphics of the GameCube jewel very seriously to the point of passing it off as a remake. Its excellent mechanics now add a technical section to match. We are facing one of the best Nintendo Switch games, neither more nor less.

God of War Ragnarök straight blows up your mind. It is a way better game than whatever you might imagine and it is definitely the best game in the whole franchise. It actually does it all: its narrative, story-wise, the characters or gameplay, and of course the visuals; it simply is outstanding. The game lasts for about 40 hours and provides one surprise after another, it just does not make any sense at all.

The Last of Us 2 is a masterpiece that not only manages to stand toe to toe with the first entry, it even surpasses it. The story of TLOU2 introduces a narrative concept which is very different from what we are used to, and it keeps on surprising us again and again. Furthermore, its landscapes, gameplay and visuals will forever remain with the players as the highest expression of videogames ever achieved on the PlayStation 4.

Half-Life Alyx is proof that Valve is still at its best creatively. This emblematic franchise has been brought to virtual reality; in Alyx we enjoy an immersion never seen before, with comfortable and intuitive mechanics as well as excellent visuals and atmosphere that accompany this interesting adventure within the iconic saga.

Larian Studios has created a true masterpiece and a game that challenges other great titles for the crown of the RPG genre. Divinity: Original Sin II is everything that a role game should aim for.

It implies that whatever Nintendo creates next, it will feel empty and uninspired as long as it does not match the newly set bar by Super Mario Bros. Wonder. This game is in every sense a new big hit by Nintendo, with its presence being as impactful as Odyssey's back in the day.

Celeste is a true masterpiece of the genre and an excellent example of what a perfect level design is. Exquisite gameplay and a beautiful story make this game one of the best surprises of the modern era.

Forza Horizon 5 accomplishes that which so many franchises try again, and again, but fail to do so: get better with each and every entry. Playground Games and Turn 10 Studio's magnificent display brings about one of the best racing games of all time to Microsoft. Is this 2021's GOTY?

Street Fighter 6 is proof that this is the best Capcom we've seen in the last decade. This game is a turning point for the franchise, obviously designed in order to bring in new players but, at the same time, it keeps the legacy that made veteran players fall in love with it back in the day. Street Fighter 6 is actually Capcom's atonement, and it shows that the developer cares about fan feedback; this may be a little step forward for Capcom, but it certainly is a defining moment for fighting games.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is everything users want and desire. A perfectly orchestrated masterpiece by FromSoftware that leaves me with the strange feeling of wondering, is this really a DLC? The added content and the new map have left me awestruck in every sense, as well as the game's duration, which will vary for each player. But I wouldn't be exaggerating if I told you that thirty hours can easily go by if you go all out. In short, although I think it's all clear, SOET is everything we could expect from a DLC and much more. The quantity and originality of the added content are insane, so the final question would be, can a DLC be the GOTY? I think it can.

Demon's Souls Remake is one of the best launch games that any new generation has ever experienced. However, we would have liked it even more if the DualSense's technology implementation was even deeper, given that at times it is barely noticeable. Nonetheless, Demon's Souls Remake is an impressive videogame due to both its longevity and possibilities. It is a work with almost no flaws whatsoever, born more than 10 years ago and back better than ever thanks to the PS5.

Mario Kart 8 returns with a ‘Deluxe’ edition that comes with new features for this entertaining game. With better graphics and gameplay thanks to the Nintendo Switch, this is one of the best Mario Kart games ever made.

Metaphor: ReFantazio draws a lot of inspiration from Persona 5, and it translates to many good things. It manages to evolve the JRPG genre both artistically and gameplay-wise. Metaphor: ReFantazio really is a turning point for japanese RPGs, a video game that hooks you to its universe from the very first minute thanks to an exhilarating plot and incredibly charming characters.
