The graphics are stellar, the music and sounds are amazing, and the controls are straightforward and intuitive. The mashup of match-three puzzle RPG and tactical strategy works out incredibly well, and the game is challenging with high replay value. The variety in mission objectives also offers up something new for each mission, so it’s not always the same thing for every level. And if you like a good dystopian sci-fi story, then Ticket to Earth has that too. And for what it’s worth, the RPG aspect of the game, in terms of character skills and upgrades, is surprisingly in-depth. Ticket to Earth is a keeper, and is one of the more enjoyable titles that have been released so far this year (and it’s been a good year for games).

The graphics are stylish and stunning on Retina screens, the music and sounds are captivating and immersive, and the controls are simple. The rules do take a bit of getting used to, and even after you go through the tutorial you may be confused as to how some things work, but I think the best way to get better is to just keep playing and observing how everything plays out. Card Thief is also a great challenge, and it will keep you busy for quite some time, so you’re definitely getting a lot of bang for your buck.

Aside from the clunky controls, Death Road to Canada is an enjoyable title that offers plenty of replay value. The retro pixel art graphics bring a smile to your face, the music and sound effects are awesome, and the gameplay is rather challenging. Believe me — you will be dying a lot in this game, but it doesn’t get tiring because each attempt brings a fresh new set of characters and events to encounter, and hey, who doesn’t like to bash in zombie hordes?

I love adorable graphical style, the audio is a delight to the ears, controls work well (even on small screens), and the puzzles themselves can be fairly challenging, despite the cartoonish aesthetic. I’m still in the early stages, but I can see myself coming back to this one for a while. I highly recommend checking out Cosmic Express if you’re a train puzzle game fan.

Euclidean Lands is a solid release and one of the best puzzle games released so far this year, in my opinion.

The visuals are stunning and exquisite, the music and sound effects are soothing and delightful, and the controls are super easy to pick-up-and-learn. I am a bit surprised at the difficulty of the game though, since it markets itself as “relaxing” but the gameplay is more of a test of skill rather than anything else.

The graphics are downright spectacular and remind me of other great games I’ve played in the past, such as Lara Croft GO and even a bit of Journey. The tunes are tranquil and relaxing, despite the somewhat gloomy tone of the game, and really just pull you in. Controls are responsive and intuitive with no issues from my testing of the game. I think the difficulty level is just right, because it picks up at a gradual pace and most of these puzzles can be solved by trial-and-error, so anyone can enjoy this fantastic puzzle adventure story.

The graphics in this title are lovely and full of charm, the sound is done well, the randomized gameplay keeps things fresh and interesting on each run, and the challenging hack-n-slash style game mechanic mixed with match-three means a fresh and fun new take on a tried-and-true genre. There’s more strategy required for this game than some others, but the end results are so satisfying. Tavern Guardians is a title I’ll be coming back to over and over again in the near future, and I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a challenging strategy match-three RPG game.

The game has a beautiful aesthetic that is calming, the music and sounds are pure bliss, and the controls are intuitive and responsive, indicating that this was a game that was optimized for touch screens. The puzzles themselves start off easy enough, but then things gradually pick up and become intricate and challenging. It’s just a perfect treat for puzzle lovers. I highly recommend checking out Causality this week if you’re in the mood for a truly special puzzle game.

Glitchskier is an action-packed arcade shooter bullet hell game that is just about as retro as it can possibly get. If you enjoy vintage skeuomorphism in your games, such as with Her Story and Telepaint, and you want to shoot stuff up, then Glitchskier is definitely the game for you.

The graphics look amazing on Retina screens, the artwork for characters and battle sprites is well-done, the music and voice acting is incredible, and the controls for combat feel much more intuitive on touch screens. The game is also pretty generous with giving you the premium currency at a steady pace, but you can also purchase more if need be. The story is fairly captivating and there are plenty of other modes to keep you busy for a while, and overall the game is great for both newbies and veterans alike.

I’m always a sucker for classic arcade game homages, and this is definitely one of them. I love the vintage pixelated graphics and authentic chiptune soundtrack of Mr. Particle-Man, and the controls are easy to get used to. There are a ton of challenging levels for the price, and like any real arcade game, there’s a lot of reasons to keep playing.

If you grew up with platformer games and want a real gem to add to your collection, then Star Knight is worth a look. It joins the ranks of other fine platformer games like Le Parker: Sous Chef Extraordinaire and Goblin Sword.
