The Worst New TV Shows of 2019
What were the biggest television duds of the past year? Above are the lowest-scoring first-year primetime TV series (including limited series) debuting in the United States between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding, and must have at least 4 reviews from professional critics.
(#6) Fox must have been hoping for something like "This Is Us ... A Whole Lot of Us." Centering on a woman who discovers that she has over 100 siblings thanks to her fertility doctor father's overenthusiastic dedication to his practice, this would-be heartwarming and lighthearted family drama was deemed unwatchable by many critics, who couldn't get past that premise (or the showrunners' seeming inability to explore its ramifications in a complex and realistic manner).
“It is tonally dissonant in the most extreme sense, a case of two wildly incompatible concepts crushed together so inelegantly that the result is a morally reprehensible, skin-crawling drama.” —Kelly Lawler, USA Today
