The Worst New TV Shows of 2017
What were the biggest television duds of the past year? Above are the lowest-scoring first-year primetime TV series debuting in the United States between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding, and any programs with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
(#5) It has not been a good year for Marvel on the small screen, with only Runaways and The Defenders managing to score somewhat positive reviews. But this fourth Netflix Marvel series, from former Dexter showrunner Scott Buck, was among the worst, with critics deeming it "inessential" and "lifeless."
“What’s remarkable about Iron Fist is just how much is missing from it. There’s no visual language whatsoever, no sense of setting, no characters about whom you care (other than a little with Henwick’s Wing), no social message, zero sense of humor and no atmosphere.” —Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
