Below are the lowest-scoring first-year TV series debuting in the United States between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding, and any programs with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
With Scandal delayed by its star's pregnancy, ABC attempted to replace it with this soapy legal drama loosely based on the connected personal and professional lives of criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and Larry King Live producer Wendy Walker. The result lacked that essential element common to all Shonda Rhimes-esque dramas: the involvement of Rhimes and her team. When ABC halted production in October after just 10 episodes were filmed, it effectively became the 2016-17 season's first casualty, though the network won't yet admit that the show was officially canceled.
