The 10 Worst TV Shows of 2016
Below are the lowest-scoring first-year TV series debuting in the United States between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding, and any programs with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded.
Metacritic's Official Worst TV Show of 2016. One of three CBS shows on this list—none of which, mind you, have been canceled—Beyond Borders is the second spinoff from long-running procedural Criminal Minds. The show follows an elite team of FBI agents (led by Gary Sinise) charged with rescuing Americans around the globe. Critics dismissed it as xenophobic and silly when it debuted in March.
"Beyond Borders, like its predecessors, is by no description a good show, but you can see the warm-bath appeal of its consistency and the insidious way in which it combines splatter-film scare tactics with pop-psychology platitudes and affirmations." — Mike Hale, The New York Times
