Victoria Schwab adapted her own short story for this eight-episode teen vampire series that tried to freshen up a formula established by countless CW series with a star-crossed interracial lesbian romance. But critics found it formulaic, clunky, repetitive, and inferior to its predecessors, and Netflix canceled the show two months after it began streaming.
