The Worst New TV Shows of 2022
What were the biggest television duds of the past year? In the gallery on this page we rank the lowest-scoring first-year primetime TV series (including limited series and specials) debuting in the United States between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022. Shows are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades from top professional critics on a 0-100 scale) prior to rounding based on scores from December 13, 2022 and must have at least 4 reviews from professional critics to qualify.
Spoiler alert: Half of this bottom 10 list consists of Netflix shows. (In the streamer's defense, it does commission far more programs than any other source, so perhaps it was inevitable that it would wind up with the largest number of crummy titles.) The least terrible among those is this generic six-episode miniseries from July starring Melissa Barrera (Vida, Scream) as Liv, a lawyer whose small plane crashes, leaving her to battle for survival in the Canadian wilderness. The biggest battle facing reviewers: Staying awake for the entire series.
“Where its predecessors were inventive in their approach, Keep Breathing plods along, tediously unrealistic and painfully predictable. You might even find yourself rooting for Liv’s demise in an effort to stir up some excitement.” —Inga Parkel, The Independent
