The 15 Worst Movies of 2019
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded. All scores are from December 22, 2019.
(#13) French-Canadian director Xavier Dolan can certainly be divisive, but his films typically screen at Cannes and often score positive reviews. His first unequivocal dud came to theaters this year in the form of his English-language debut, which was first lambasted by critics as solipsistic and incoherent at its Toronto premiere over a year ago. It's a waste of a strong cast that includes Kit Harington, Jacob Tremblay, Natalie Portman, Susan Sarandon, Thandie Newton, and Kathy Bates.
“None of it rings remotely true and his insistence on playing out so many scenes at such a high level can make it an excruciating watch.” —Benjamin Lee, The Guardian
