(#1) While Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood used the real-life Tate-LaBianca murders as the inspiration for a wholly original and wildly acclaimed film, this second feature from Daniel Farrands (The Amityville Murders) turns the slayings into a "schlock[y]," "cheap," and "sleazy" bit of exploitation horror, according to critics. (And it certainly isn't helped by miscasting Hilary Duff as Tate.) Farrands certainly seems to have found a formula that he (if no one else) likes: His next film, due in a few weeks, is The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson.
“The Haunting of Sharon Tate is an astoundingly tasteless motion picture, perfunctorily produced and insensitively conceived.” —William Bibbiani, The Wrap
