Updated January 3, 2019 to add late-arriving dud Holmes & Watson.
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 7 reviews are excluded. All scores are from December 20, 2018.
Metacritic's Official Worst Movie of 2018.
(#1) It's not really fair (to Michael Moore) to call Dinesh D'Souza the right-wing version of Michael Moore. Even if you completely disagree with the latter's politics, you have to agree that Moore's filmmaking has never sunk anywhere close to the Ed Woodian depths where D'Souza makes his home. His latest D'Saster uses tortured logic, sketchy historical reenactments, and even one of his "trademark" musical numbers to blame Democrats and liberals for racism and genocide and equate Donald Trump to Abraham Lincoln. Out of the 11,819 films for which we have Metascores, Nation ranks as #11,819.
“In Death of a Nation, Dinesh D’Souza is no longer preaching to the choir; he’s preaching to the mentally unsound. That’s how detached from reality his “philosophy,” his armchair rage, and his passionate and consuming desire to be a radical-right shill have become.” —Owen Gleiberman, Variety
