Winter TV Preview: 30 Notable New & Returning Shows
New year, new shows. In the gallery above, find our guide to the most promising new shows debuting in early 2019, plus some notable returning favorites.
Debuts March 15 on Hulu. This six episode series co-created by and starring SNL's Aidy Bryant is based on Lindy West's hit comedic memoir of the same name. Bryant plays an aspiring journalist in Portland (the Oregon one) in a series that should be able to treat issues related to weight and body image in a more sensitive and incisive fashion than, say, Netflix's Insatiable (admittedly, a low bar). Parks & Rec's Ali Rushfield and West herself are the other writer-creators on the series, while Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein and Gillian Robespierre (Obvious Child) are among the directors. Julia Sweeney, Lolly Adefope, and John Cameron Mitchell also star.
