Winter TV Preview: 30 Notable New & Returning Shows
New year, new shows. In the gallery above, find our guide to the most promising new shows debuting in early 2019, plus some notable returning favorites.
Debuts February 12 on TBS. It may not be the first TV series to turn heaven into a workplace comedy (there is, after all, The Good Place, even if the bulk of that series takes place elsewhere). Still, it looks promising. The Lorne Michaels-produced series comes from Man Seeking Woman creator Simon Rich (which he adapts from his own book, What in God's Name) and stars Daniel Radcliffe as a low-level angel who is charged with the overwhelming task of answering humanity's prayers. It doesn't help that his boss—God (played by Steve Buscemi, replacing the originally cast Owen Wilson)—is completely checked-out, bored, and uninspiring. Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni also star, while Tituss Burgess, Margaret Cho, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, and Angela Kinsey will recur.
