Debuts January 25 on Netflix. It may not be 2019's most uplifting new series, but this co-production between the BBC and Netflix was just named one of the 10 best shows of 2018 by The Guardian and received raves from seemingly every publication in the UK (where it aired in the fall). The eight-episode thriller about the prosecution of an African warlord in the International Criminal Court—a case which relates to the Rwandan genocide and leads to the potential unveiling of a major conspiracy, with plenty of shocking twists along the way—comes from The Honourable Woman creator Hugo Blick, who also stars alongside Michaela Coel and John Goodman, both delivering widely acclaimed performances.
