Winter TV Preview: 30 Notable New & Returning Shows

Debuts January 17 on CBS All Access. Following a series of "Short Treks" (now streaming), the second proper season of the Star Trek prequel series finds the Discovery meeting up with the USS Enterprise. Ethan Peck joins the cast as a young version of Spock, while Anson Mount takes over the role of Enterprise captain Christopher Pike and Rebecca Romijn plays his first officer, aka "Number One." New episodes stream weekly on Thursdays, but you'll have to wait until late 2019 to see CBS All Access's other new Star Trek series, centering on Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard. (An animated Star Trek series called Lower Decks is also in the works, but it is unclear when it will launch.)
