Winter TV Preview: 30 Notable New & Returning Shows
New year, new shows. In the gallery above, find our guide to the most promising new shows debuting in early 2019, plus some notable returning favorites.
Debuts January 16 on Syfy. Reaction to the pilot (which is streaming now ahead of its television premiere) has been mixed at best, but there's still hope that this series adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel (almost a teen version of X-Men, centering on a homeless boy who is recruited into an elite private academy for assassins populated by the offspring of the world's top crime families) can sort itself out once the premise is established. The biggest reason for optimism: the 1987-set series comes from the Russo brothers (of Avengers: Infinity War, among other projects). The cast is led by Benjamin Wadsworth, Benedict Wong, Lana Condor, and Liam James, while Henry Rollins has a supporting role.
