It turns out that the Evil Corp of the early 19th century was the East India Company, at least in the world of Taboo. This BBC-produced series from Steven Knight and his Peaky Blinders and Locke star Tom Hardy—plus Hardy's father Chips Hardy—is set in 1814 Britain.
The younger Hardy plays an adventurer believed to be dead who reappears after an African voyage, seeking vengeance for the death of his father while attempting to prevent the aforementioned conglomerate from taking over his family business. Michael Kelly, Franka Potente, and Jonathan Pryce also star.
