Winter TV Preview: 20 Notable Shows
Are you ready for not one, not two, but three different reinventions of the comic book TV series? How about period dramas starring Tom Hardy and Christina Ricci? A look at the life of another English queen, or a fictitious American pope? The return of The Good Wife and 24? Or perhaps all you need is a Series of Unfortunate Events.
Those concepts and more are headed to the small screen between now and early March. Find details on 20 noteworthy upcoming shows (both new and returning series, plus miniseries) below, ordered by date. The first season of this British drama series earned strong reviews when it reached the U.S. via Starz back in 2014. Set mainly in Germany, season 2 (which already aired in the UK) centers on a completely different missing persons case. Tchéky Karyo is back as French detective Julien Baptiste, who is drawn out of retirement when he receives a major lead in a decade-old case. David Morrissey and Keeley Hawes are among the newcomers for an eight-episode story that jumps between two different time periods (in 2014 and the present day).
