Winter TV Preview: The 25 Most-Anticipated Shows
If you suspect that TV networks seem to hold their best shows back until midseason these days, well, you're not wrong. This winter, for example, will bring returning (and critically acclaimed) favorites like The X Files and Better Call Saul, while also introducing brand new series from the likes of Louis C.K. and Zach Galifianakis, Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter, and Ryan Murphy, among others.
Below, we highlight 25 intriguing shows scheduled to debut in the months of January and February, listed in order by premiere date. (For information on other upcoming TV debuts in 2016, be sure to visit our TV Premiere Calendar.)
Featuring a top-notch cast led by Ben Whishaw (Spectre) and Edward Holcroft (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and also featuring Charlotte Rampling (45 Years), Jim Broadbent and Clarke Peters, this five-episode British import centers on a budding romance between two men that takes a sudden, unexpected turn when one of them turns up dead—and his death may have something to do with his job in the Secret Intelligence Service. The script comes from Child 44 author Tom Rob Smith.
