Winter TV Preview: The 25 Most-Anticipated Shows
If you suspect that TV networks seem to hold their best shows back until midseason these days, well, you're not wrong. This winter, for example, will bring returning (and critically acclaimed) favorites like The X Files and Better Call Saul, while also introducing brand new series from the likes of Louis C.K. and Zach Galifianakis, Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter, and Ryan Murphy, among others.
Below, we highlight 25 intriguing shows scheduled to debut in the months of January and February, listed in order by premiere date. (For information on other upcoming TV debuts in 2016, be sure to visit our TV Premiere Calendar.)
This spinoff from both The Flash and Arrow is aiming for an Ocean's Eleven/Dirty Dozen feel, as the time-traveling Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill, Doctor Who) assembles a ragtag group of heroes and villains to defeat an immortal threat (Casper Crump's Vandal Savage) who aims to destroy both the world and time itself. The ensemble features numerous characters introduced on The Flash, including Brandon Routh's The Atom, Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold, Victor Garber's Dr. Martin Stein, and Dominic Purcell's Heat Wave. And though she was killed off on Arrow last season—where she played Black Canary—Caity Lotz will also star in Legends as White Canary.
