With Mario set to take the world again this month in Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch, it's time to look back at the franchise to decide which entry is the very best. We ranked every Super Mario Bros. title, going all the way back to the original 1985 game, using scores from Metacritic and GameRankings.
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
Conceived and released as the followup to Super Mario Bros. in Japan, The Lost Levels was deemed too difficult for American audiences and didn’t get a North American release until Super Mario All-Stars debuted on the SNES.
