21 TV Shows to Watch This Summer
The coming summer, arguably, may not have the sheer volume of high profile shows that we have become accustomed to in recent years. But that certainly doesn't mean there won't be anything to watch. In fact, the highlights—led by the returns of Twin Peaks and Game of Thrones—include some of this year's most-anticipated shows regardless of season.
Below you can find details on the most notable TV debuts this summer (both new and returning shows), ordered by date. For more premiere dates and details on every upcoming show (including those not profiled here), visit our 2017 TV Premiere Calendar.
▣The Mist
Debuts June 22 on Spike
Spike's first regular scripted series in nearly a decade (and likely its last before being rebranded as the Paramount Network next year), The Mist is an adaptation of both Stephen King’s novella as well as Frank Darabont's 2007 film adaptation about a town enveloped by a mysterious mist that brings with it a variety of otherworldly threats.
Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under), Morgan Spector (Person of Interest), Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire), and Darren Pettie (Mad Men) star, while Adam Bernstein (Breaking Bad, Fargo) directs. Expect a greater variety of characters and locations than in the original book.
