For his first directorial effort since the Oscar best picture-winning Spotlight, Tom McCarthy is turning to the small screen for the first time with this 13-episode adaptation of Jay Asher's young adult novel Thirteen Reasons Why. Like the book, the series, written by Pulitzer winner Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he attempts to discover why his classmate Hannah committed suicide. A box of 13 audiotapes recorded by Hannah before her death provides clues. Selena Gomez is among the producers.
