Spring TV Preview: 25 Shows to Watch
Even without Game of Thrones (which doesn't return until summer), this is a loaded spring TV season. Some of the small screen's best shows—including Fargo, The Americans, Veep, Better Call Saul, Review, and the newly revived Mystery Science Theater 3000—return, joined by pedigreed newcomers like Iron Fist, American Gods, I Love Dick, Feud, and The Handmaid's Tale.
Below, browse the most notable new and returning shows debuting between now and mid-May, ordered by date. And for more premiere dates and details on every upcoming show (including those not profiled here), visit our 2017 TV Premiere Calendar.
In the not-too-distant future, Netflix will begin streaming cheesy movies ... and we can't wait. Thanks to a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, the cult classic series Mystery Science Theater 3000 is returning with 14 new episodes—the show's first since 1999.
Creator and original host Joel Hodgson is spearheading the revival, which includes a mostly new cast featuring Jonah Ray, Patton Oswalt, Felicia Day, and the voices of Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn (as robots Crow and Tom Servo, respectively). The writing staff is led by former Daily Show head writer Elliott Kalan, who is joined by MST3K vets such as Bill Corbett and Mary Jo Pehl, plus notable guests like Dana Gould and Rick & Morty's Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. Expect cameos from celebrity fans such as Jerry Seinfeld, Joel McHale, Neil Patrick Harris, and more.
