The alt-rock veterans have been on an album-every-four-years pace since 1993, and Spirit, their 14th LP overall, comes four years after Delta Machine. Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford produced the 12-song set (his first time working with the band), which includes four tracks on which frontman Dave Gahan has a writing credit.
