In 2012, Midlake frontman Tim Smith departed the band. Though the indie rockers soldiered on with guitarist Eric Pulido taking over vocal duties on 2013's Antiphon, they've enlisted some help for their new project, BNQT. Joining Pulido behind the mic on Volume 1 are the frontmen from Grandaddy (Jason Lytle), Franz Ferdinand (Alex Kapranos), Band of Horses (Ben Bridwell), and Travis (Fran Healy), and the result is what Pulido describes as a "poor man’s Traveling Willburys," with each vocalist handling a pair of songs apiece.
