Spring TV Preview: 20 Notable New & Returning Shows
In the gallery above, our editors pick out the most promising new shows debuting this spring, plus some notable returning favorites. They are listed in order by premiere date.
Debuts March 15 on Hulu. This six-episode series, co-created by and starring SNL's Aidy Bryant, is based on Lindy West's hit comedic memoir of the same name. Bryant plays an aspiring journalist in Portland (the Oregon one) in a series that should be able to treat issues related to weight and body image in a more sensitive and incisive fashion than, say, Netflix's Insatiable (admittedly, a low bar). Parks & Rec's Ali Rushfield and West herself are the other writer-creators on the series, Lorne Michaels is a producer, and Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein and Gillian Robespierre (Obvious Child) are among the directors. Julia Sweeney, Lolly Adefope, and John Cameron Mitchell also star.
