Spring TV Preview: 30 Shows to Look For
Above, find details on all of the notable TV premieres coming this spring, from returning favorites like The Handmaid's Tale, Westworld, The Americans, and Legion to newcomers such as Trust, Krypton, The Terror, and Barry.
Debuts April 25 on Hulu. All that The Handmaid's Tale did in its first season was announce Hulu as a major player in the streaming world and sweep pretty much every TV award handed out last year. Its eight Emmy wins included a trophy for best drama series, a first for any streaming service.
Season 2, however, finds the post-apocalyptic drama heading into uncharted territory, having exhausted the material in Margaret Atwood's novel. Expect a large portion of the storyline to focus on the pregnancy of Elisabeth Moss's Offred, while the second episode will include a trip to the Colonies (mentioned but never visited in Atwood's book). These 13 new episodes (up from 10 last year) add Marisa Tomei, Cherry Jones, Bradley Whitford, and Clea DuVall, while Emmy-winning S1 guest star Alexis Bledel has been upped to series regular (along with Amanda Brugel, who plays Rita). Though original director Reed Morano doesn't return, about half of this season's directors are women.
