Spring TV Preview: 30 Shows to Look For
Above, find details on all of the notable TV premieres coming this spring, from returning favorites like The Handmaid's Tale, Westworld, The Americans, and Legion to newcomers such as Trust, Krypton, The Terror, and Barry.
Debuts March 25 on FX. The 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III—the subject of Ridley Scott's recent movie All the Money in the World—is also the focus of this FX drama from another acclaimed film director, Danny Boyle. He directs the first three episodes, re-teaming with his Slumdog Millionaire screenwriter Simon Beaufoy. Unless Christopher Plummer suddenly replaces him in the next few weeks, Donald Sutherland will star as J. Paul Getty Sr., while Michael Esper plays J. Paul Getty Jr., Harris Dickinson is the kidnap victim, Hilary Swank is the latter's mother, and Brendan Fraser plays the family's private investigator.
Trust was originally billed as a miniseries, but it will now (should it return) function as a Getty-related anthology series, with potential future seasons jumping backward (and forward) in time considerably, ultimately spanning five decades in the history of one of America's wealthiest families.
