Spring TV Preview: The 30 Most-Anticipated Shows
Does TV save its best shows for the end of its season? The answer may be yes, given that the next few months will see the returns of acclaimed programs like The Americans, Game of Thrones, Veep, and Catastrophe. There are also some promising newcomers headed to the small screen in the coming weeks, including several Netflix comedies, the latest from Shonda Rhimes, and a drama produced by Steven Soderbergh.
Below, we highlight 30 intriguing shows scheduled to debut between now and early May, listed in order by premiere date. (For information on other upcoming TV debuts, visit our TV Premiere Calendar.)
Showtime's Victorian-era horror series returns for a nine-episode third season that will see Patti LuPone joining the cast as a therapist for Eva Green's Vanessa (a different role than LuPone previously played as a guest on the show). Other new characters include Dr. Jekyll, played by Shazad Latif (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel). Some of the action will take place in 19th century frontier America, though it was shot on location in Spain.
