Spring TV Preview: The 30 Most-Anticipated Shows
Does TV save its best shows for the end of its season? The answer may be yes, given that the next few months will see the returns of acclaimed programs like The Americans, Game of Thrones, Veep, and Catastrophe. There are also some promising newcomers headed to the small screen in the coming weeks, including several Netflix comedies, the latest from Shonda Rhimes, and a drama produced by Steven Soderbergh.
Below, we highlight 30 intriguing shows scheduled to debut between now and early May, listed in order by premiere date. (For information on other upcoming TV debuts, visit our TV Premiere Calendar.)
CSI producer Carol Mendelsohn and Parenthood and Friday Night Lights writer David Hudgins are behind this 10-episode drama adaptation of the award-winning Turkish series Suskunlar (which in turn was inspired by the novel Sleepers, previously adapted into a film by Barry Levinson). Aiming for a darker, cable-style feel—with the network guaranteeing a definite resolution at the end of season one—the Atlanta-set series centers on a promising young attorney (David Lyons, Revolution) whose career is suddenly threatened by the return of a dark secret from his past. Larenz Tate and Michael Raymond-James also star, while Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) directs the opener.
