Spring TV Preview: The 30 Most-Anticipated Shows
Does TV save its best shows for the end of its season? The answer may be yes, given that the next few months will see the returns of acclaimed programs like The Americans, Game of Thrones, Veep, and Catastrophe. There are also some promising newcomers headed to the small screen in the coming weeks, including several Netflix comedies, the latest from Shonda Rhimes, and a drama produced by Steven Soderbergh.
Below, we highlight 30 intriguing shows scheduled to debut between now and early May, listed in order by premiere date. (For information on other upcoming TV debuts, visit our TV Premiere Calendar.)
Netflix's first attempt at a conventional multi-camera comedy didn't exactly score with critics. Its second may not produce significantly better results, but it does have some sitcom veterans involved, including Two and a Half Men producers Don Reo and Jim Patterson and former That '70s Show stars Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson. They are joined by a strong supporting cast of Elisha Cuthbert, Sam Elliott, Debra Winger, and Kathy Baker for a story about a failed semi-pro football player (Kutcher) who returns home to Colorado to help run the family ranching business. Ten episodes will stream together next month, with another 10 to follow later in the year.
