Out September 23 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One
Also available day one on Xbox Game Pass, this stylish indie has been appearing on "most-anticipated" lists for years and finally looks like it has a release date that will stick. The Microsoft exclusive comes from the two-person team at Shedworks and features stunning visuals, drawn in a distinctive style influenced by French comics and Japanese animation, and a soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner, who is already having quite the year. (The soundtrack will also be released as an album on the 23rd.) It's a coming-of-age adventure centering on an adolescent girl who sets off on a solitary journey that takes her to a far-away desert planet, where you'll have the ability to engage in open-world exploration to help Sable learn more about the world's inhabitants and herself. It's not dissimilar in structure to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, even if it obviously can't match that game's size. PC gamers can play a demo of Sable now on Steam.
