Documentary miniseries debuts September 6 on Netflix
This is as close to live coverage as Netflix gets. A five-part docuseries from the director of The Last Dance, Countdown will follow the crew of the Inspiration4, a unique all-civilian mission into space aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule. (This isn't some billionaire's quick up-and-down trip; the goal is for the crew to spend a total of three days in orbit.) Episodes will not air all at once but rather roll out as the series covers the mission prep in near-real time, with the spacecraft's launch currently scheduled for September 15. A feature-length final episode airing in late September will include footage shot from inside the spacecraft during the journey. (Exact dates for all five episodes are contingent upon the mission schedule and could be delayed if the launch gets pushed back.)
