Miniseries debuts September 12 on HBO and HBO Max
Ingmar Bergman's hugely influential 1973 Swedish miniseries (which was also edited down into a feature film that went on to win a Golden Globe) has been adapted for the present day into a five-episode HBO limited series by writer-director Hagai Levi (The Affair, In Treatment). Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac, who previously starred together in A Most Violent Year, take center stage as Mira and Jonathan, a married couple who find their relationship disintegrating. Think of it as a longer version of Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story (which itself was heavily influenced by Bergman's work).
