September Preview: 22 TV Shows & New Movies to Watch at Home
In the gallery above, our editors have selected the coming month's most promising TV shows (including limited series and specials) as well as movies available to watch at home through VOD and digital purchases, listed in order by premiere date. Many of these titles haven't been reviewed yet (and we haven't seen them), but they are the most intriguing new releases on paper, at least, arriving in September.
Limited series debuts September 14 on HBO. Co-produced by the UK's Sky, this six-part limited series (originally announced as a May premiere only to be pushed back as part of HBO's attempt to space out its remaining programming during the pandemic) is divided into two sections: "Summer" and "Winter." The former tells the story of Sam (Jude Law), who finds himself drawn to a mysterious and isolated island off the British coast whose inhabitants are determined to preserve their traditions "at any cost," while the latter centers on Helen (Naomie Harris), whose arrival on the same island throws its future into question. Emily Watson, Katherine Waterston, and Paddy Considine also star.
