12 Films to See in September
The fall movie season kicks off with new films from Darren Aronofsky, Mike White, Stephen Frears, and the duo of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris—plus the highly anticipated Stephen King adaptation It. Get details on these and other noteworthy September film releases below.
After directing the biblical epic Noah, writer-director Darren Aronofsky returns with this intimate, and by the looks of it, horrific story about the dissolution of a couple’s relationship when some creepy uninvited guests arrive at their home. Little is known about the film, but Aronofsky, who wrote it quickly before rehearsing it for three months, claims it’s a “very intense ride.” Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson, and Kristin Wiig, the film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in a few days before heading to theaters in mid-September.
