12 Films to See in September
With summer turning into fall, it is time for popcorn films to give way to more serious fare at the cineplex, though September won't be without its genre films—including a promising revival of the Blair Witch franchise. In anticipation of the month ahead, our editors have selected September's most noteworthy new movies, including new titles from Clint Eastwood, Andrea Arnold, Oliver Stone, Ron Howard, and a few intriguing debuts.
This month will provide music fans with two very different documentaries to enjoy. The more conventional of the two is Ron Howard’s The Beatles: Eight Days a Week—The Touring Years. As the title suggests, the film focuses on the band between 1962-1966, from their early days in Liverpool to their last concert at Candlestick Park. Look for it in select theaters on September 16th before it streams on Hulu the following day.
Killing Them Softly director Andrew Dominik takes a more experimental approach with One More Time with Feeling, which chronicles the production and performance of The Skeleton Tree, the new album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds born from the tragic death of Cave’s son. It will be in 2D and 3D cinemas one night only, September 8th, one night before the album is released. Find out more information here.
