Renew/Cancel Odds for TV Shows Still on the Bubble
At this time last year, there were fewer than 40 broadcast shows still on the bubble. This year? Nearly 70. While The CW has given early pickups to nearly every one of its shows, the other four networks have renewed only a select few, leaving the fates of many series up in the air with less than two months to go before the networks make their 2017-18 schedule announcements.
To determine which of those shows look safe, and which are in danger of cancellation, we have surveyed a variety of experts. Below, browse the resulting renew/cancel odds for over 60 scripted shows still on the bubble (listed in alphabetical order).
Earlier this year, CBS head Les Moonves suggested that the network would renew "at least five, maybe six" of its first-year programs. Many of those spots are already accounted for (with sure things like Bull and Kevin Can Wait). If the number of renewals turns out to be just five, the final slot will likely come down to a choice between this Joel McHale comedy, Matt LeBlanc's Man With a Plan, and the newer Superior Donuts. The Great Indoors could have an edge, with higher viewership and 18-49 ratings numbers, though it also has the huge advantage of The Big Bang Theory as its lead-in.
