Special debuts October 7 on Disney+
Gael Garcia Bernal stars as the titular hero (aka Jack Russell) in a one-off (for now) Marvel Halloween special directed by composer turned filmmaker Michael Giacchino. Unlike pretty much any other Marvel project released to date, the (mostly) black-and-white hour is a loving ode to 1930s and '40s creature features (even to the point of incorporating practical effects rather than CGI) and also stars Laura Donnelly as Jack's ally Elsa Bloodstone. The special's recent debut at Fantastic Fest was met with a mostly positive reception from fans and a few critics.
