October Preview: 25 TV Shows & New Movies to Watch at Home
In the gallery above, our editors have selected the coming month's most promising TV shows (including limited series and specials) as well as movies available to watch at home through VOD and digital purchases, listed in order by premiere date. Many of these titles haven't been reviewed yet (and we haven't seen them), but they are the most intriguing new releases on paper, at least, arriving in October.
Horror film series launches October 6 on Prime Video. Amazon's Halloween treat for Prime subscribers is a four-film horror series from genre experts Blumhouse. Two films will stream on October 6th: The Lie, a story about a teenage murderer that reunites director Veena Sud with her The Killing star Mireille Enos, and Black Box, which finds the sole survivor of a car crash (Mamoudou Athie) undergoing an experimental treatment to regain his memory. (And, no, the horror doesn't just stem from the treatment being administered by an out-of-network provider.) Another pair arrives on October 13th: Evil Eye, in which a mother is convinced her daughter's new boyfriend is far less perfect than he seems, and Nocturne, in which a music student (Sydney Sweeney) suddenly excels after gaining access to a mysterious notebook belonging to her dead classmate.
