October Preview: 25 TV Shows & New Movies to Watch at Home
In the gallery above, our editors have selected the coming month's most promising TV shows (including limited series and specials) as well as movies available to watch at home through VOD and digital purchases, listed in order by premiere date. Many of these titles haven't been reviewed yet (and we haven't seen them), but they are the most intriguing new releases on paper, at least, arriving in October.
Drama series debuts October 9 on Disney+. Originally developed for Nat Geo before moving over to Disney's streaming service, The Right Stuff is a new drama series adaptation of Tom Wolfe's nonfiction book chronicling the early days of America's space program. (That book, of course, was previously adapted into the terrific Oscar-winning 1983 film of the same name.) Patrick J. Adams, Jake McDorman, Patrick Fischler, Colin O’Donoghue, James Lafferty, Aaron Staton, and Michael Trotter head the cast for season 1, which focuses in depth on the seven astronauts in the Mercury program. Potential future seasons would cover other stories and historical figures.
