Series debuts October 9 on The CW. Newcomer Kennedy McMann stars in a loose adaptation (from The O.C./Gossip Girl team of Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage) of the classic children's mystery book series. It's set in the summer after Drew's high school graduation and plays a bit like Veronica Mars crossed with Riverdale. Definitely not for young children, the first season finds the new grad's college hopes put on hold when she becomes caught up in a family tragedy and a murder investigation. Despite numerous attempts by multiple networks over the past decades, the character has never actually had her own stand-alone television series before, though she did appear in the late 1970s as part of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries on ABC (and that show's star, Pamela Sue Martin, guests in the opener of the new series). Scott Wolf, Riley Smith (Proven Innocent) and Leah Lewis also star.
